Description

JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent will have an opportunity to work on the various projects in the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) portfolio and collaborate with leading public health experts from partner organizations. This positions requires travel for field and research work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical and programmatic support to IRD’s Maternal & Child Health (MCH) team in developing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and assessing maternal and child health related projects.
  • Supervise staff hiring and provide direct managerial support to project staff (including field teams) stationed at the project site.
  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders, donors and the Government for MCH projects.
  • Contribute to results monitoring and provide reporting and documentation internally and to external donors regarding IRD’s MCH projects and activities.
  • Conduct field visits to assess the challenges and facilitate implementation as needed.
  • Conduct statistical data analysis to help support project strategic direction and Assist with project budgeting and maintaining project expense reports in collaboration with finance department.
  • Assist with grant writing and prepare feasible and well-informed project concepts including work plans, budgets, staff hiring with respect to donor TORs and RFPs.
  • Perform regular project monitoring and evaluation functions, identify implementation difficulties and operational and strategic issues and recommend appropriate solutions or course of action.
  • Attend weekly MCH meetings to report progress and challenges.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA)

Required Qualification

  • Masters or higher-level degree(s) in Public Health, Social Science, Epidemiology, International Development or other relevant field.

Required Experience

  • Have 7-9 years experience in developing country work.

Required Skills

  • Outstanding listening as well as verbal and written communications skills. Full written and spoken fluency in English
  • Capability to compile data and conduct statistical analyses
  • Donor Orientation - Take personal responsibility and accountability for timely response to donor queries, requests or needs
  • Preferred understanding of maternal and child health initiatives and programs, and how they fit in broader country development challenges
  • Highly organized, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and a complicated work program
  • Precision, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong conceptual and research/analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and rapidly analyze and integrate diverse information from varied sources into conclusion and recommendations
