JOB GRADE TITLE: Senior Officer

DEPARTMENT / PROGRAM: Mental Health Program

REPORTING TO: Senior Psychologist and Program Coordinator

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time Contractual (close-ended)

LOCATION: Badin, Sindh

JOB PURPOSE

The incumbent will be responsible to assist the Senior Psychologist and Program Coordinator in overall program implementation. S/he will develop and oversee training of field staff based in the districts of Badin, Tharparkar & Jamshoro and closely monitor the intervention being given; ensuring quality and adherence to established protocols. S/he will be responsible for implementing programmatic protocols across the program’s intervention sites. S/he will also act as supervisor for Community Mental Health Officers and mobilize them to collect data.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing and Conducting trainings [30%]

  • Work with the Senior Psychologist and Manager, Training & Learning to organize regular trainings on basic counseling skills at the community and facility level
  • Based on the findings from periodical check-ins with the Community Mental Health Officers, identify, and provide capacity-building sessions on a regular basis
  • Ensure regular training and reinforcement of protocols for services offered

Program Management [70%]

  • Through weekly check-ins: assist and provide guidance to an external team of 20 Community-based Mental Health Officers – this includes providing feedback to the team on screening and counseling, discussing problematic/complex cases, and accompanying them on field visits
  • Undertake personal psychotherapy with clients who are diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety
  • Ensure clients displaying signs of SMI’s are referred after consulting with the Senior Psychologist
  • Manage data on health-worker led therapy sessions and conduct field visits as part of Monitoring and Evaluation strategy
  • Present weekly and monthly progress reports to the Senior Psychologist

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA)

Required Qualification

  • Master’s/M. Phil Degree in Psychology and/or a Post-Magisterial Diploma in Clinical Psychology

Required Experience

  • Experienced with aspects of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Humanistic and Eclectic therapies and be able to use varied techniques when developing counselling content.
  • Experience with psychometrics, counseling and data collection techniques

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and spoken)
  • Fluency in Sindhi (written and spoken)
  • Possess qualities of empathy, positive regard and genuineness
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, reliable and punctual
  • Willing to work in community-based communities and vulnerable settings
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel & Powerpoint)
