To whom it may concern: Reference letter for Mr. Sheikh Abdullah

I am pleased to provide this reference letter for Mr. Sheikh Abdullah. He joined SECP on 1st July 2009. He worked under my supervision in Systemic Risk Department at Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan from June 2016 to August 2017.

Systemic Risk Department is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and monitoring factors that contribute to systemic risk in the capital market. It reported directly to the Chairman of the SECP and shares its risk analysis and recommendations with the highest management layer, that is, Commissioners.

I have found Sheikh Abdullah to be a talented and dependable executive secretary of Systemic Risk Department. He has demonstrated strong Executive Secretary skills and clear thinking. He diligently attends to his assignments and does not rest till they are complete. He works with a great deal of independence and requires limited support and supervision. He is well liked and respected by all his colleagues for his high standard of professional and personal ethics. He is also a candid professional who can be counted on for clear and candid feedback.

His major responsibilities included the following:

  • Maintain executive’s agenda and assist in planning appointments, board meetings, conferences etc.
  • Attend meetings and keep minutes
  • Receive and screen phone calls and redirect them when appropriate
  • Handle and prioritize all outgoing or incoming correspondence (e-mail, letters, packages etc.)
  • Make travel and hotel arrangements for executives
  • Handle confidential documents ensuring they remain secure
  • Monitor office supplies and negotiate terms with suppliers to ensure the most cost-effective orders
  • Maintain electronic and paper records ensuring information is organized and easily accessible
  • Conduct research and prepare presentations or reports as assigned

I gave him the highest possible of “Very Good” rating I could under our relative rating system. I mentioned in his performance evaluation that I consider him to be one of the best, if not the best, young professional at SECP. I wish him success in his future endeavors.

Regards

Usman Hayat, CFA, FRM
